Innovation Center Iceland was changed to IceTec

On April 15, 2021, the Icelandic government passed a law regarding support for innovation (nr. 25/2021) where it was declared that applied research and technical assistance and equipment for innovation, that then was part of operations of Innovation Center Iceland, Árleynir 2-8, 112 Reykjavík, ID No. 5806070710, would be moved to a new legal entity in the form of a limited liabilities company, Tæknisetur ehf., and that Innovation Center Iceland would be shut down. This new legal entity is wholly owned by the Icelandic State with registered owner being the Icelandic Ministry of Finance.
In June 2021 a board of directors was appointed by the Minister of Industry and Innovation1 and Tæknisetur ehf. started operations on 1 July 2021.
In accordance with the above mentioned law Tæknisetur ehf. has therefore taken over all ongoing projects previously managed by Innovation Center Iceland as well as relevant staff members to be able to fulfill the work packages and overall obligations of those projects.
